HOW I BECAME A PIRATE TO THE YACHTING LIFE

Updated: Feb 7, 2023

Funny story how I got here, living and bouncing around on luxurious floating homes all over the world while I came into this world at the hialeah hospital bed with my screaming mother pushing me out of her womb…OK this story took a turn. Moral of the story, I didn’t grow up in yachting. I did grow up having a serious connection to the ocean, my off days always consisted of being by the water and growing up my summers consisted of being in the tropical paradise of Puerto Rico. Although I did grow up in the BFE of Florida, Miramar. I lived a pretty great childhood from elementary school to not dropping out and finishing college with a bachelors degree in Hospitality Management and minored in Marketing at Florida State University GO NOLES!

Every job I had I always wanted more. Being the only friend that was hustling and bustling since 15 years old working almost everyday countless hours and countless jobs. Being in Hotels for 4 years and finally realizing I wanted more out of my time. Don't get me wrong, I met so many incredible people along the way and learned so much from these experiences, I wouldn't change how I got here. Did not change the fact that I always wanted more for myself. A job where I didn't have to feel trapped or unhappy. A job where I woke up everyday excited to start my day. A job where I wasn't chasing freedom. A job where I had a community of people who bring out the best in each other everyday. A job where I could remotely travel and see the world. A job where I got to actually enjoy enough to consider it more of a lifestyle than a job tittle.

So this story begins the day i met a real life pirate... On a serious note, this lifestyle, I did not choose, it choose me. Sort of like a calling, a sign that this would be something so different and so out of comfort zone and that it would change my life forever. Little did I know one decision would change the game of life for me.

Let me go back a little here. This story began during the middle of the world pandemic 2020 that basically changed my life and everyone in the entire world. The most horrific yet best thing that happened for all of us. Life was put on pause for first time in history. A recession began. A worldwide pandemic that took so many lives. A lockdown that required humans to stay locked in there homes and far away from our loved ones, from our jobs, from our freedom. Everything was put on pause. For some of us at least. I was blessed to be living with my parents at the time through out the pandemic and got to spend all the quality time that I hadn't been able to do in years with them. I became unemployed so I really got time to revaluate my life. I had many thoughts about "this is the time to start over" and be the nomad I always wanted to be, making a lifestyle i wanted once the world opened up again. This story takes a turn again.

So month 3 into the pandemic; my best girl friend invited me on a tinder date ~day~ with her, and this date included us going out for a cruise on a yacht. I don’t do dating apps or meet ups with strangers its just not my thing. (But I support all my friends that do because they got some hysterical stories.) Anyway, we ended up having the BEST day to making a whole weekend out of it in Miami, cruising around with our new friends on different yachts, partying, and networking with Yachties from all over the world. Spending all weekend pulling all nighters and dancing till the sunrise. After this legendary weekend, a great job opportunity landed in my lap. Next day you know I get my first gig working on 60ft yacht with Puerto Rican Capitan Hector who has been a captain for 15 years. I knew since day one of working with him, I was in good hands with a real life pirate. (If you know him you know) I had him teach me ALL the ropes in yachting, no pun intended. 6 amazing months later working with him, I started freelancing and that opened up so many countless opportunities in the yachting industry. I have had the privilege to work on yachts, sailboats, catamarans and cant stop and wont stop this journey. It has turned into a true love of mine. Being able to explore the world from a different perspective and have experiences at sea is an adrenaline rush like no other. Crossing from Miami to the Caribbean to the Mediterranean to the Pacific Ocean. There truly is no better way to see the world than through the eyes of a pirate.

AND YO HO YO HO A PIRATES LIFE FOR ME! HERE WE ARE 3 YEARS LATER....
